Dr. Bhupendra Sharma is a Chairman of Sevarth Yoga Ayurveda and Yagya Sansthan, Udaipur.
He shares his insights on maintaining positivity and optimism in life through a simple yet powerful story:
A king, having assumed a disguise, visited the site of a temple under construction to observe its progress and admire its beauty. Approaching the first mason, he inquired, “What are you doing?” The mason replied, “I am merely breaking stones.” The king posed the same question to the second mason, who answered, “I am breaking stones to earn my livelihood.” When the king asked the third mason, the response was given with pride: “I am building a magnificent temple.”
All the masons had the same responsibilities and roles in building the temple. However, their perspectives differed: the first said he was just breaking stones, the second said he was doing his daily work to earn his bread, while the third saw himself as building a grand temple.
Dr. Bhupendra Sharma emphasizes that a positive mindset is essential for optimal performance. He advises that maintaining a positive outlook requires self-understanding and self-connection, which can be cultivated through meditation-ideally by fostering a spiritual connection with God.
He insists on practicing positive affirmations daily, both in the morning and before sleeping, reminding ourselves that we are capable and the best at what we do. Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of surrounding oneself with positive social groups and friends. He further advises that instead of consuming negative news or discussions from TV, newspapers, or social media, one should focus on positive news and uplifting content to maintain a positive mindset.
