बीते हुए कल पर नहीं, आने वाले कल पर दें ध्यान।
Dr. Pradeep Kumawat, Director, Alok Institutions
Dr. Pradeep Kumawat is the Director of Alok Institutions and a respected social leader.
He shares a profound lesson from the life of Lord Gautama Buddha: One day, while Lord Gautama Buddha was delivering a sermon(moral speech), a disciple stood up and asked, “Is it true that one should never get angry?” Buddha calmly agreed.
However, among the listeners was a man known for his short temper. He could not accept this idea and stood up furiously, shouting in disagreement. Overcome by rage, he even spit on Buddha’s face. Yet, Buddha remained unmoved. Without a trace of anger, he simply wiped his face with his cloth and continued on his way to another village.
The following day, the same individual, feeling ashamed for his previous actions, approached the Buddha to seek forgiveness. He admitted that his intention in spitting on the Buddha was to provoke a reaction of anger; however, he was taken aback by the Buddha's calm and unaffected demeanor.
Buddha smiled and replied, “If I had held on to yesterday’s events, it would have disturbed my peace today. I left the past behind because what is gone is gone. One must focus on the present and move forward.”
Through this, Dr. Pradeep Kumawat shares Lord Buddha's teachings about how anger and grudges only weigh us down. Holding on to past negativity prevents us from experiencing the joy of the present and the possibilities of the future. Dr. Kumawat highlights that instead, by letting go, we create space for peace, wisdom, and true happiness. As Buddha beautifully said, "बीते कल को मत पकड़ो, क्योंकि बीत गई तो बात गई।"
